Here's exactly what each day of this trip looks like.
Arrive at Shanghai International Airport and meet your local representative. Transfer to your hotel for check-in. The rest of the day is free for you to relax after your journey or begin exploring the city independently. Meals: Breakfast. Overnight: Shanghai.
After breakfast, begin your Shanghai sightseeing tour. Explore Yu Garden Tourist Bazaar and continue to the Bund, one of Shanghai's most recognisable waterfront areas. Cross into the modern Lujiazui Financial District and visit the Oriental Pearl Tower Observation Deck for views across the city. Later, enjoy a cruise along the Huangpu River, offering another perspective of Shanghai's skyline. Finish the day with time around Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street before returning to your hotel. After breakfast, leave Shanghai for a day trip to Tongli Water Town. Explore the historic waterways, traditional architecture and old streets of this picturesque town. Take a relaxed walk through the area and experience a different side of the region away from Shanghai's busy urban centre. Return to Shanghai after the excursion. Meals: Breakfast. After breakfast, check out and transfer to the railway station for your high-speed train to Beijing. Enjoy the journey across China before arriving in the capital. Meet your local representative and transfer to your hotel for check-in. The remainder of the day is free to relax or explore the surrounding area. Meals: Breakfast. Overnight: Beijing.
After breakfast, begin your Beijing sightseeing experience. Visit Tiananmen Square before continuing to the Forbidden City, the former imperial palace complex and one of China's most important historic landmarks. Later, explore Qianmen Street and Wangfujing Street, two well-known areas where history, shopping and local city life come together. Return to your hotel after the day's tour. Meals: Breakfast. After breakfast, travel to the Juyongguan section of the Great Wall. Spend time exploring this impressive section of the ancient defensive system and taking in the surrounding mountain scenery. Continue to the Summer Palace, a historic imperial garden known for its lakes, landscaped grounds and traditional architecture. Return to Beijing in the evening. Meals: Breakfast. Overnight: Beijing.
After breakfast, visit the Temple of Heaven, one of Beijing's most important historic religious complexes. Depending on your departure schedule, there may be time for some final sightseeing or shopping before transferring to the airport for your onward flight. Meals: Breakfast.
