Full Itinerary

Here's exactly what each day of this trip looks like.

Arrive in Shanghai and transfer to your hotel for check-in. The rest of the day is free to rest after your journey or explore the surrounding area at your own pace.

Explore Shanghai's historic and modern sides with visits to Yu Garden and Chenghuang Temple. Continue to The Bund, one of the city's most famous waterfront areas, before exploring Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street. Later, visit the Lujiazui area and admire Shanghai's impressive skyline, including the Oriental Pearl Tower.

Travel from Shanghai to Beijing by sleeper bullet train. On arrival, continue with Beijing sightseeing, including Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City and Wangfujing Pedestrian Street. Discover the history of China's imperial capital while also experiencing one of Beijing's best-known modern shopping and dining areas.

Travel to the Juyongguan section of the Great Wall of China. Take time to explore this historic section and enjoy the mountain scenery surrounding the wall. Continue to the Summer Palace, a former imperial retreat known for its gardens, lake and traditional architecture. Enjoy a Royal Dragon Boat experience before returning to Beijing.

Travel by high-speed train from Beijing to Xi'an. After arrival, explore the Xi'an Ming City Wall, one of the best-preserved ancient city walls in China. Continue to Zhonggulou Square and Hui Min Snack Street in the Muslim Quarter, where you can experience Xi'an's local food and historic atmosphere.

Visit the Qin Shi Huang Mausoleum Museum, home to the world-famous Terracotta Warriors. Learn about the army created to accompany China's first emperor into the afterlife. Later, visit Daci'en Temple and explore the Tang Dynasty Unceasing City, a cultural district inspired by the city's Tang Dynasty heritage.

Travel from Xi'an to Chengdu by high-speed train. After checking into your hotel, spend time exploring Chengdu and getting familiar with the city. Depending on the train schedule, there may be an opportunity to visit one of the city's local streets or cultural areas.

Visit the Giant Panda Breeding and Research Base to see China's much-loved giant pandas and learn about conservation and research efforts. Later, visit People's Park and explore Chengdu's historic Wide, Narrow & Well Alley streets. In the evening, enjoy a Sichuan Opera face-changing show, one of the city's best-known cultural performances.

Travel from Chengdu to Chongqing by high-speed train. After arrival, begin exploring this distinctive mountain city. Visit Liberation Square, 18th Step Old Street and Kuixing Tower. Continue to Li Ziba Observation Deck, known for its unusual view of the light rail passing through a residential building. Later, visit Hongya Cave and experience its striking architecture and illuminated night views.

Begin your final day with a visit to E-Ling Second Factory Cultural Park, a former industrial site that has become a popular cultural and creative destination. After sightseeing, transfer for your onward journey, marking the end of your China tour.
