Begin in Kandy, a city known for its cultural heritage and the sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic. Continue into the cool green hills of Nuwara Eliya, where tea plantations and mountain scenery provide a very different side of Sri Lanka. The journey then heads to Bentota for time along the coast before ending with a city tour of Colombo.

Full Itinerary

Here's exactly what each day of this trip looks like.

Arrive in Colombo and begin your journey to Kandy. Along the way, visit the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage and stop at a local Spice Garden to learn about some of Sri Lanka's traditional spices and plants. Continue to Kandy and check in at your hotel. In the evening, visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic, one of Sri Lanka's most important cultural and religious sites. Meals: None. Overnight: Kandy.

Leave Kandy and travel through Sri Lanka's scenic central highlands towards Nuwara Eliya. The journey takes you through winding mountain roads, green valleys and tea-growing country. Visit a tea plantation and factory to learn how Sri Lankan tea is cultivated, processed and prepared. Continue to Nuwara Eliya and check in at your hotel. Overnight: Nuwara Eliya.

Spend the day exploring Nuwara Eliya and its surrounding attractions. Known for its cool climate, colonial-era character and tea-covered hills, the town offers a refreshing change from the warmer parts of Sri Lanka. Visit Ambuluwawa Tower and enjoy views across the surrounding landscape before continuing with your sightseeing. Overnight: Nuwara Eliya.

Depart Nuwara Eliya and travel towards Sri Lanka's southern coast. As the landscape changes from cool highlands to warmer lowlands, continue to Bentota and check in at your hotel. The remainder of the day is free to relax and enjoy the coastal surroundings. Overnight: Bentota.

Enjoy a day exploring the Bentota area. Take a Madu River boat safari through the waterways and mangrove-covered surroundings, offering a chance to see local wildlife and experience one of the region's popular nature activities. Return to Bentota and spend the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight: Bentota.

Travel from Bentota to Colombo for a final city tour. Visit attractions including the Red Mosque, Gangaramaya Temple and Lotus Tower. After the sightseeing, proceed to the airport for your departure flight, marking the end of your Sri Lankan holiday.
