Full Itinerary
Here's exactly what each day of this trip looks like.
Arrive in Shanghai and meet your local representative for an airport transfer to the hotel. Check in and spend the rest of the day relaxing after your journey or exploring the area around your hotel at your own pace.
Begin your Shanghai sightseeing with a visit to Yu Garden, a traditional Chinese garden surrounded by historic architecture and local shops. Continue to Chenghuang Temple before heading to The Bund, Shanghai's famous waterfront promenade overlooking the city's modern skyline. Later, explore Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street and visit the Lujiazui financial district, where you can admire the Oriental Pearl Tower and Shanghai's impressive skyline.
Travel to Zhujiajiao Ancient Water Town, a historic settlement known for its canals, stone bridges and traditional buildings dating from the Ming and Qing periods. Enjoy a scenic boat ride through the waterways before returning to Shanghai. Later, board the train to Beijing and transfer to your hotel upon arrival.
Start your Beijing sightseeing at Tiananmen Square, one of China's most recognisable public spaces. Continue into the Forbidden City, the former imperial palace and one of the country's most important historic sites. Later, explore Wangfujing Pedestrian Street, a popular shopping and dining area where you can experience another side of modern Beijing.
Travel to the Juyongguan section of the Great Wall of China. Walk along this historic section of the wall and take in the surrounding mountain scenery. Continue to the Summer Palace, one of Beijing's best-known imperial gardens. Explore its lakes, pavilions and landscaped grounds, including a Royal Dragon Boat experience.
Travel from Beijing to Xi'an by high-speed train. On arrival, begin exploring the historic city with a visit to the Xi'an Ming City Wall. Continue to Zhonggulou Square, home to the famous Bell and Drum Towers area, before exploring Hui Min Snack Street in the Muslim Quarter. This lively area is known for its traditional food, local shops and historic atmosphere.
Visit the Qin Shi Huang Mausoleum Museum, home to the famous Terracotta Warriors. Discover the thousands of life-sized figures created to protect China's first emperor in the afterlife. Later, visit Daci'en Temple and explore the Tang Dynasty Unceasing City, an area known for its traditional-style architecture, cultural performances and evening atmosphere.
Visit the Xi'an Museum for a final look at the city's long history and archaeological heritage. After the tour, transfer to the airport for your onward flight, marking the end of your China journey.
